I've always enjoyed history. A couple years ago I started tracing my family's history and soon found myself addicted to genealogy research. People's lives are complex and present a series of mysteries. Discovering clues, analyzing them, and unraveling someone's story can be as exhilarating as watching a horserace that you've put a small bet on.
I recently self-published a book on our family history. Not wanting to be finished with it, I still tinker with learning more details. I have several different trees for other families. The Reese family is not related to me or to anyone I know, but when my brother told me of this old bible that he rescued long ago and preserved on a shelf, wishing he could one day identify the true owners, I knew it had all the elements of a great project. A mysterious old book, faded handwriting, unknown names and unidentified portraits. It's real detective stuff, and I'm using this blog to share the process of learning about this family.
